IamResponding Offers Notification Redundancy
You can receive IamResponding alerts through Email, Text, the Website and the App.
We encourage you to configure your profile to get notified by at least two different methods.
No single method of message delivery is perfect. Any delivery method can be impacted or delayed by factors outside of our control. Redundancy is critical, and strongly recommended. Please select multiple methods for delivery of alerts (push, text, email).
Please DO NOT ABANDON YOUR PAGERS. Push, text and email notifications are dependent on many factors beyond our control and should be used as supplemental notifications only.
Email & Text Message Notifications:
Your IamResponding profile has the four fields shown in the image below.
Each of these fields can host an Email or Text Message Address.
If you have multiple Email accounts or Text Message Addresses that you want to receive notices/messages, you can program them here.
→This is fully independent from App Alerts.
The important thing to remember is the title of the field that you are using. If you program an Email Address into the PAGER field, you must check the associated box on your profile to get CAD Incidents sent to your PAGER address (because that is the field you are using).
If one of your members sends an Internal Message to everyone via Text Message Addresses, and you have a Text Address in the PAGER field, that device will not get a Text Message. The SENDER must also send to the PAGER address when they compose their message.
→We suggest that all internal messages be sent via ALL Methods.
Text Message Notifications:
-
Redundant Text Notifications are reliant on your carrier to deliver the messages to you.
- IaR sends an email to your carrier via the carrier provided Text Message Address.
-
Your carrier receives and processes that email and should make final delivery to your device.
- Some carriers have been restricting traffic through their Email-to-Text pathway.
- Please rely on the IaR App for reliable notifications and alerts.
Your text message address is your 10-digit cell phone number followed by one of the addresses in the table below*.
If your provider is not listed:
→Send a text message from your phone, to an email address**.
→When you receive and look at that email, see the address that the email came from.
→That address is your Text Message Address, or it may help you identify the cellular provider, when it is unknown.
*The list of Text Message Addresses is subject to change by the cellular provider.
**iPhone users:
To avoid an iMessage, send your Text-to-Email, to an Email address that is not affiliated with an iCloud account.
IaR App PUSH Notifications:
Please ensure that you have the current version of your device’s operating system (iOS or Android), and the most current version of the IaR App available for your device.
In order to receive CAD or AUDIO Incident Alerts through the IamResponding App, you must first activate those alerts in your IamResponding Member Profile, in the DISPATCH INFORMATION and/or TWOTONEDETECT-PAGER GROUP fields.
ANDROID
The Android App offers Notification sound on silent/vibrate mode? for all notification types.
When this option is checked, IaR will alert you through your Android device’s Media Volume*.
*Please Test
Make sure that your Media Volume is turned Up.
If your device is connected to Bluetooth devices (including your vehicle), you may not hear the IaR App sounds when this option is checked.

You can add your Email Address and Text Message Address in your User Profile on the IamResponding.com website to add additional ways to get Messages.

Device Settings-Apple
→On your Apple device, go to the Settings App
→select NOTIFICATIONS
→Scroll down to the IaR App, and select it.
These are the suggested settings for iOS devices. It is your choice to use Critical Alerts or not*.
*You will only see the Critical Alerts button if you have selected Sound on silent/vibrate mode? in your IaR App Settings.
Test My Notifications
In the App on the Left-Side Menu there is an option for Test My Notifications.
- This tool allows you to test your various alerts types.
*Except, Apple devices can't test the Critical Alerts function. Critical Alerts is a function or Apple, not IaR. You can Test your alerts, with the Critical Alerts off, but not with Sound on silent/vibrate mode? switch activated.
- If your default app settings work for you, then the Critical Alerts function should work also.
