What is it:
See the response status, live location and availability of team members and apparatus.
-Both Member login credentials and Apparatus login credentials can be used on Android/Apple mobile devices (phones/tablets). The location of these devices can be displayed on all IaR Maps showing real-time location.
Where to find it & How-To:
Member tracking is first configured through the IaR Website System Settings, then on individual member profiles.
-IaR Website - Administrative Functions - Manage Members - Edit a Member
In the Membership Information and Preferences section, you will see where you can choose the color of your tracking indicator of the IaR Maps.
-
The car colors are defined by IaR to be universally recognizable.
Within an agency, members can internally agree that specific colors mean specific things to THEM. There is no programming involved, but they just need to train the members on the car colors, if they are different from those defined by IaR.
-IaR App - Left side menu - Settings - Mapping Settings
You will see an option for, Track me after I Respond.
- You have the option to DISABLE tracking completely.
- You can choose a variety of timeframes that the IaR App will track you.
-
The longest option is, 30 minutes with 10 min reminders.
- After the first 30 minutes, the IaR App will ask you (every 10 minutes) if you still want to be tracked. You can keep this going for as long as you would like.
Using Member Tracking (after it's configured)
-Anytime that you respond by using the Respond Now button, tracking will begin for the timeframe selected on your Track Me after I Respond IaR App setting.
-On the IaR App Mapping screens you can select the CAR button. This will start Member Tracking, and also submit your default Response Option.
-STOP Member Tracking by selecting the STOP button on the IaR App Mapping screens.
-STOP Member Tracking by waiting for the designated timeframe to elapse.
All IamResponding Maps (IaR App, IamResponding Website, IamResponding Dispatch Portal) have the ability to show NO Individuals, OUR Individuals, or ALL Individuals.
This setting is controlled by going to the Map Settings, and Filters.

Troubleshooting:
Overcoming common issues that STOP tracking
-App must be kept running for tracking to work.
- The App can be minimized, but not closed.
-
If there are Data Saver or Battery Saver programs on the device, they need to be disabled.
- (They will interfere with the performance/tracking of the IaR App when it sits idle or minimized)
- If the device is sharing its location with other apps at the same time, at some point the device will likely stop sharing with some of those apps, including the IaR App.
-Device (phone/tablet) needs to have built-in GPS (preferably also with its own data plan)
-
If the device does not have its own data plan (WiFi Only), both the device and the MiFi device it is connected to NEED to have GPS capability, and those two need to be synced.
- I have no instructions on MiFi/Device synching, or how to make this work.
- A phone/tablet with its own data plan is 100% most advised!
Fun Tip:
-Member Tracking can be used ANYTIME you need/want to display your location to IamResponding System viewers. This is great to wilderness/maritime responses when you may be out of sight of incident command.
