Overview
Resource Lookup enables IamResponding (IaR) users search the map for members and apparatus (coming soon) who are currently sharing their location, then navigate to them on the map. It works alongside continuous Live Location Sharing and response-based location. Anyone sharing their location through either one can now be found in a few taps.
How it Works
Searching for a resource:
Open the map in the IaR app.
Use the toggle under the map search bar to switch between the three search modes: Address (addresses and lat/long), W3W, and Resources.
Select Resources and start typing a name. Matching results appear as you type and narrow as you add letters. A full list can also be expanded using the arrow to the right of the search bar.
Tap a result. The map centers on that resource and shows its marker and name.
Things to know:
To return to a normal address search, switch the toggle back to Address.
Only resources that are actively sharing their location appear. This includes members using Live Location Sharing, members who responded with tracking through “Respond Now,” and IaR apparatus currently sharing their location (coming soon). Members who aren’t sharing are not listed.
The map centers on the resource’s current location when you select it, but it does not follow the resource as it moves. Search and select again to re-center.
Resource Lookup covers IaR members only (IaR apparatus coming soon). It doesn’t include external AVL (non-IaR) apparatus.
Benefits & Use Cases
Locating a specific person quickly: Find a particular member, such as a chief officer or specific individual without hunting across the map.
Locating apparatus (coming soon): See where a specific apparatus is and its current status.
Supporting Live Location use cases: Pairs with Live Location Sharing for solo personnel checks, multi-unit operations, event coverage, and more. Supervisors can pull up the exact person they need at any time.
