IamResponding offers over 40 different map markers that you can add to your maps.
Video Overview: Understanding Map Marker Types
This video provides an in-depth exploration of the 50+ specialized map markers available within the IamResponding platform. It covers everything from basic informational icons to sophisticated, data-rich tools like hydrant trackers and geofenced area pre-plans designed to enhance situational awareness.
Advanced Hydrant Tracking: Hydrant markers feature dynamic visual intelligence that automatically changes color based on NFPA flow rate standards and includes a toggle to turn the icon black when out of service.
Automated Expiration Timers: Certain markers for temporary incidents, such as road closures or flooded areas, can be set with expiration timers to automatically remove themselves from the map, preventing data clutter.
Geofenced Tactical Zones: The area pre-plan tool allows users to draw custom shapes (polygons, circles, or rectangles) that trigger alerts and highlight critical documents whenever a dispatch pin drops within the defined boundary.
Pro Tip: For maximum efficiency with hydrant markers, use the specific ID number assigned by your water department as the marker name. This allows your team to instantly locate and update the status of a specific hydrant if a utility provider reports it out of service.
Video Overview: Map Markers: Add/Edit/Delete
This guide demonstrates how to effectively add, edit, and delete various map markers within IamResponding to enhance situational awareness. Learn how to manage hydrants, landing zones, and road construction markers using both the desktop browser and mobile application versions of IamResponding.
Hydrant Management: Input specific water department names, flow rates for automatic color-coding, and technical details like outlet sizes and thread types.
Dynamic Markers & Geofencing: Create temporary construction markers with automatic expiration dates and draw custom Geofence boundaries for complex pre-plans.
Mobile Synchronization: Add or update markers in real time from the field using long-press actions on mobile devices to ensure instant data sharing across the entire agency.
Pro Tip: When adding building pre-plans, use the "Manage Files" section to upload up to 10 documents per marker, and always include a "Last Updated" note in the description to ensure field crews are using the most current intelligence.
