Getting your team into IamResponding (IaR) is quick, but the most important step is setting up the right access. Focus on who needs to manage the system, not just who holds a high rank.
1. Assigning System Administrators
Before adding members, choose your Master Admins. These individuals will have Full (Master) Permissions to help you run the IaR system.
- Who to Choose: Pick people you trust who are interested in using the system and are comfortable navigating a website. They do not need to be high-ranking members.
- Best Practice: Aim for two or more Master Admins. This ensures coverage if you are unavailable or on vacation.
2. Adding Your Members (Step-by-Step)
You can add members individually or in bulk. Remember to set their individual permissions upon entry, which controls their level of access.
- Access Administrative Functions: Go to IamResponding.com on the web, then select Administrative Functions.
- Choose Entry Method:
- To add a single member, select Members - Add A Member. The first five fields are required.
- To add multiple members, select the Import Multiple Members form.
- Set Permissions: As you add members, set their individual permissions.
- Initial Communication: Once added, every member receives an email with their initial login credentials and instructions to complete their profile.
- Launch Tip: Add members right before or after a meeting where you can explain the system and set expectations (e.g., "Download the IaR App and log in today!").
3. The "New Member" System Launch
Maximize member adoption by dedicating a short period (1–3 days) for active exploration.
- Goal: Encourage members to use all core features, such as responding to drills, scheduling shifts, and sending internal messages. Since their permissions are limited, they cannot accidentally cause major issues.
- Discover Admins: Engaged members may be excellent Administrators.
