Mobile App Menu Overview
This guide provides a summary of each menu item and its functionality, ensuring users can navigate and utilize the IamResponding app effectively based on permissions set by their agency’s administrator.
To access the IamResponding app menu, tap the (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner of the screen. This will open the main menu, where you can quickly navigate to various features, view incidents, check messages, update your status, and more. The options available may vary based on your permissions set by your agency's IamResponding Administrator.

DashboardThe Dashboard gives a quick overview of your agency's activity. It shows who is responding, on-duty personnel, and lets you update your availability and apparatus status, making it easy to stay current on response details. |
Incident Map & IncidentsThe Incident Map feature displays a map view of recent incidents with markers for each location. You can scroll through the last five incidents and select any incident to see its specific location and details, helping responders quickly visualize and navigate to active or recent incidents.

Create Incident & Update IncidentFor agencies using the Create Incident feature, this tool lets you initiate new incidents as if you were a dispatcher, which is useful for specialty teams or training.

Currently On DutyThe Currently On Duty feature shows a real-time list of team members who are marked as on duty. This allows you to see who is actively available for response, ensuring that everyone on your team has a clear view of current staffing and availability. |
Scheduling & Add a Quick Shift |
MappingThe Mapping feature allows you to open a map of your area, showing key locations without being linked to a specific incident. You can measure distances with the ruler tool and view area-specific details to assist with navigation and response planning. |
Hydrants/MarkersThe Hydrants feature provides access to hydrant and water source markers on the map. If your permissions allow, you can add new hydrants, update locations, or mark a hydrant as out of service, helping to keep water source information current and accurate for all responders. |
ApparatusThe Apparatus option allows you to view and update the status of your agency’s vehicles and equipment. With the proper permissions, you can mark apparatus as in or out of service, which sends an automatic notification to the team. This feature keeps everyone informed of which resources are available for response. |
MessagesThe Messaging feature lets you view message history and, if you have permission, compose and send messages to others within your agency. It’s a centralized place for important updates, announcements, and communication with your team |
ChatThe Chat feature is a real-time messaging tool available on iOS and Android devices, designed for quick, two-way communication among team members. You can participate in or create chat rooms, enabling instant updates and coordination. Note that chat permissions are controlled by your agency administrator. |
Announcements & System AlertsThe Announcements section provides important updates from IamResponding, including new app releases, event invitations, and other useful information. System Alerts notify you of any system-wide issues or changes, keeping you informed of anything that may impact app functionality or response readiness. |
Regional NoticesThe Regional Notices feature displays location-specific alerts, such as road closures, hospital statuses, or other updates relevant to your area. These notices are typically issued by dispatch centers or regional administrators, helping responders stay aware of critical information that may affect their operations. |
Secret List
The Secret List: Enabling The Secret List adds a quick-access link in the app menu for users to view real-life firefighter safety information from FirefighterCloseCalls.com. IamResponding supports their mission to enhance firefighter safety by sharing lessons from real incidents, close calls, and safety practices. This resource promotes a focus on life-saving training and continuous learning, helping firefighters stay safe and informed on the job.

Test My NotificationsThe Test My Notifications feature allows you to verify that your device is set up to receive alerts correctly. You can test incident alerts, message notifications, audio alerts, and other types of notifications to ensure they are configured properly, helping you stay connected and responsive. |
EventsThe Events feature provides a calendar for tracking upcoming activities, such as training sessions, drills, and agency events. You can RSVP to events and receive reminders, making it easy to stay organized and prepared for scheduled activities. |
TrainingThe Training section offers helpful guides, tips, and resources to assist you in using the IamResponding app effectively. It includes information on setup, feature usage, and best practices, supporting ongoing learning and skill development for all team members. |
Emergency ContactsThe Emergency Contacts feature provides access to important contact information for team members, allowing quick reference during incidents. If permitted, you can view the emergency contacts of other members, ensuring you have access to essential contact details when needed. |
ResourcesThe Resources feature includes both IamResponding-provided resources and custom resources that can be added by your agency. IamResponding resources offer general guides and, while your agency’s resources can include area-specific info like burn maps, tide times, or traffic camera links, giving responders quick access to essential information. |
SettingsThe Settings option allows you to customize your app experience, including alert sounds, notification preferences, and display settings. These settings can be tailored to each device and specific agency setup, ensuring that notifications and alerts work effectively for your unique needs. |
Help CenterThe Help Center connects you to IamResponding support for any technical assistance you may need. When you reach out, essential information—like your name, agency, and app details—is automatically included to streamline support and help resolve issues efficiently. |
Referral RewardsThe Referral Rewards feature lets you recommend IamResponding to other agencies that might benefit from the app. When you submit a referral, IamResponding will reach out to the recommended agency on your behalf, allowing you to share the app’s advantages with others in public safety. |
IAR LinksThe IAR Links section provides quick access to IamResponding’s website and social media pages, making it easy to stay updated on news and community insights. |
Share This AppThe Share This App option allows you to quickly invite others to download the app directly from the app store, helping new team members get set up seamlessly. |
