Android Screen Recording
The standard way to take a screen recording on most Android phones (running Android 11 or newer) is through the Quick Settings panel.
Here are the general steps:
Access Quick Settings:
1. Swipe down twice from the very top of your screen to fully expand the Quick Settings menu.
2. Look for the Screen record or Screen Recorder icon. You may need to swipe left to see more tiles.
3. If you don't see the icon, you may need to tap the pencil icon or three dots menu and then Edit buttons to drag the Screen Recorder tile from the inactive options to your active Quick Settings.
Start Recording:
1. Tap the Screen Recorder icon.
2. A window will appear allowing you to select your settings, such as:
Sound source: Choose whether to record Device audio (internal phone sounds), the Microphone, or Both.
Show touches on screen (optional).
3. Tap Start (or Start recording).
4. A short countdown (e.g., 3 seconds) will begin, and then your device will start recording everything on the screen. A small floating toolbar or indicator may appear.
Stop and Find the Recording:
1. To stop the recording, you can usually:
Tap the Stop button on the floating toolbar/indicator.
Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Screen recorder notification.
2. The video file will automatically be saved to your device. You can usually find it in your Gallery or Google Photos app, typically within a folder named Movies or Screen recordings.
Android Screenshot
The most common way to take a screenshot on an Android device is using the hardware buttons:
1. Navigate to the screen you want to capture.
2. Simultaneously press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button for about a second, then release them.
You'll usually see a brief flash on the screen, hear a shutter sound, and a small preview of the screenshot will appear.
It is typically saved to a "Screenshots" folder in your photo Gallery or Photos app.

Alternative Methods
The most universal method is the Power + Volume Down button combination.
Depending on your phone manufacturer and Android version, you may have other options:
Power Button Menu:
On some devices, pressing and holding the Power button for a few seconds will bring up a menu that includes a Screenshot option.
Quick Settings Panel:
Swipe down twice from the top of the screen to fully expand your Quick Settings. Look for a Screenshot or Screen Capture tile and tap it. You may need to edit your Quick Settings to add this tile if it's not visible.
Gestures:
Some phones (like Samsung Galaxy or Pixel devices) have gesture shortcuts, such as swiping the edge of your palm across the screen (Samsung) or using a "Quick Tap" by double-tapping the back of the phone (Pixel).
Google Assistant:
Activate Google Assistant and say "Take a screenshot"
iOS Screen Recording
Taking a screen recording on an iOS device (iPhone or iPad) is done through the Control Center.
The process has two main parts: first, making sure the feature is available in your Control Center, and second, actually starting and stopping the recording.
Step 1: Add Screen Recording to Control Center (If it's not already there)
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap Control Center.
3. Scroll down to the More Controls section (or Customize Controls on older iOS versions).
4. Find Screen Recording and tap the green + icon next to it to add it to your Included Controls.
Step 2: Start and Stop the Recording
To Start Recording:
1. Open Control Center:
For iPhones/iPads with Face ID (no Home button): Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen.
For iPhones/iPads with a Home button: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen.
2. Tap the Record button: It looks like a solid white circle inside a thin ring.
3. The button will turn red and start a 3-second countdown.
4. After the countdown, the recording will begin. A red bubble, pill, or bar will appear at the top of your screen to show you're recording.
To Record with Audio (Voiceover/Mic):
1. Tap and hold (long-press) the Screen Recording button in Control Center.
2. A menu will pop up. Tap the Microphone icon to turn it On (it will turn red).
3. Tap Start Recording.
To Stop Recording:
1. Tap the red status indicator (the bubble, pill, or bar) at the top of your screen.
2. Tap Stop in the pop-up dialog.
Alternatively, you can open Control Center again and tap the red Record button.
Your screen recording will automatically be saved as a video file in your Photos app.
iOS Screenshot
The method for taking a screenshot on an iPhone depends on whether your phone has a Home button or Face ID (no Home button).
Method 1: For iPhones with Face ID (No Home Button)
(e.g., iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and newer models)
1. Quickly press and release the Side button (on the right) and the Volume Up button (on the left) at the same time.
2. The screen will flash, and a small preview thumbnail will briefly appear in the lower-left corner.
3. Tap the thumbnail to edit or share the screenshot immediately, or swipe left to dismiss it and save it to your Photos app.
Method 2: For iPhones with a Home Button (Touch ID)
(e.g., iPhone 6, 7, 8, and iPhone SE models)
1. Quickly press and release the Home button (the circular button below the screen) and the Side button (or Top button on very old models) at the same time.
2. The screen will flash, and a small preview thumbnail will briefly appear in the lower-left corner.
3. Tap the thumbnail to edit or share the screenshot immediately, or swipe left to dismiss it and save it to your Photos app.

Alternative Methods (Accessibility Features)
If you have trouble using the physical buttons, iOS offers alternative ways to take a screenshot:
Back Tap (iPhone 8 and newer):
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap.
Choose either Double Tap or Triple Tap and select Screenshot.
You can then take a screenshot by quickly tapping the back of your phone two or three times.
AssistiveTouch:
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch and turn it on.
A floating button will appear on your screen. Tap it, go to Device > More, and then tap Screenshot.
