Overview
This article walks you through enrolling members for dispatch notifications (CAD or Incident Creation Tool) — individually or in bulk — and configuring notification settings on the IaR mobile app (Android and iPhone).
Important: Delivery Method Disclaimer
No single method of message delivery is perfect. Any delivery method can be impacted or delayed by factors outside of our control. Redundancy is critical and strongly recommended. Please select multiple methods of delivery for your dispatch messages (push, text, email, etc.). Do not abandon your pagers. Push, text, and email notifications depend on many factors beyond our control and should be used as supplemental notifications only.
Individual Member Enrollment for CAD Notifications
Step 1: Access the Member's Web Profile
- Go to www.IamResponding.com
- Click Administrative Functions
- Click Members → Edit a Member
- Choose the member's name from the drop-down list
- Click Edit Member
Step 2: Configure Dispatch Information
- Scroll to the Dispatch Information section (about halfway down the profile).
- In the first field, choose which dispatches this member should receive. (Depending on your dispatch center's setup, you may see one box or multiple box options.)
- Below that, select how the member should be alerted for these dispatches.
Step 3: Enable Enhanced Dispatch (Verizon Users Only)
Verizon users should use a dedicated text address for more reliable delivery — up to 10,000 characters per text, more reliable than messages sent via vtext.com:
- Check the Priority messaging address box.
- Enter the address: the member's 10-digit phone number (no dashes) followed by
@vzvmg.biz. (Hover over the "?" icon if you forget the domain.)
Step 4: Save Changes
Scroll to the bottom of the profile and click Update to save your changes.
Mass Enrollment for CAD Notifications
- Go to www.IamResponding.com
- Click Administrative Functions
- Click Members → Manage Incident Subscriptions
- Select CAD dispatch address
- Select Members or Group
- To subscribe members individually, check the box next to each member's name. To subscribe everyone at once, click Subscribe All.
Setting Up Dispatch on the IaR Mobile App
Android
- Go to the App Settings.
- Note: the default ringtone is Silent — be sure to choose a ringtone you prefer. Other settings are a matter of personal preference.
- All settings can be adjusted or readjusted at any time by returning to the Edit Agency Settings screen.
Apple (iPhone)
- Go to the App Settings.
- Slide the toggle to Green under Incident Settings for Notifications.
- Note: the default ringtone is Silent — be sure to choose a ringtone you like.
- All settings can be readjusted at any time from the Agency Settings screen.
iPhone System Notification Settings
- Open iPhone Settings → Notifications.
- Scroll to find the IaR app and open it.
- Turn ON all options (toggle to Green):
- Enable Alerts and set Show Previews to Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners.
