This article outlines how to configure push notifications for the IamResponding (IaR) app on Apple devices (iOS). Ensure your device's operating system and the IaR app are updated to the latest versions for optimal performance.
Activating Alerts in Your IaR Profile
Before configuring app notification settings, you must first activate the desired alert types within your IamResponding member profile on the IamResponding.com website.
- CAD Incident Alerts: Activate under "Dispatch Information" → "Send me these dispatches."
- Audio Incident Alerts: Activate under "TwoToneDetect–Pager Groups."
App Notification Settings (iOS)
CAD Incident Notifications (iOS)
These settings only function after you have enabled "Dispatch Information → Send me these dispatches" in your IamResponding.com user profile.
Audio Incident Notifications (iOS)
These settings only function after you have enabled "TwoToneDetect–Pager Groups" in your IamResponding.com user profile.
Messaging Notifications (iOS)
These notifications are for non-emergency messages/notices sent by agency members through IaR's Internal Messaging feature. Unlike incident alerts, these settings are activated simply by checking the "Notifications" box within the app.
For additional messaging redundancy, you can also add your email address and text message address to your user profile on IamResponding.com.

Testing Your Notifications
The IaR app includes a "Test My Notifications" feature in the left-side menu. This tool allows you to verify that your various alert types are functioning correctly.
Important: Due to Apple restrictions, the "Critical Alerts" function cannot be tested directly through the IaR app. However, if your standard app notification settings are working as expected, Critical Alerts should also function correctly when enabled. You can test all other alerts with Critical Alerts turned off, but you cannot test with the "Sound on silent/vibrate mode" switch activated.
