IamResponding provides the ability to get most IaR App alerts when your device is on Silent or Vibrate modes.
Due to Android and Apple devices being inherently different, each system is set up, and works a little differently from one another.
Android Devices
The IaR App can play an audible alert anytime that the device is in Silent/Vibrate, for any IaR Alert type.
If the device's native DoNotDisturb is on, the IaR App can't alert unless it is allowed to within the devices own DoNotDisturb settings which the user can permit specific Apps to alert.
The Android App offers Notification sound on silent/vibrate mode? for all notification types with this one check-box.
When this option is checked, IaR will alert you through your Android device’s Media Volume*.
*Please Test
Make sure that your Media Volume is turned Up.
If your device is connected to Bluetooth devices (including your vehicle), you may not hear the IaR App sounds when this option is checked. This is because most Bluetooth devices are programmed to play your devices MEDIA. If in your vehicle, listening to anything other than Bluetooth Audio (CD, AM/FM, Satellite), you likely won't hear the IaR App alert since your device is trying to play through your car speakers, but you aren't using that mode on your radio.
Apple Devices
Apple has permitted IamResponding to utilize the Apple Critical Alerts function, but, not for all IamResponding alerts.
The Notification sound on silent/vibrate mode? (Apple's Critical Alerts) feature can alert you for CAD INCIDENTS and AUDIO INCIDENTS.
The IamResponding Internal Messages and Regional Notices will not alert when the device's DND is on, or if the device is in a Silent/Vibrate mode.
- The device's native DoNotDisturb can be overridden by Apple's Critical Alerts feature.
- If the IaR App's own DoNotDisturb is used, Apple's Critical Alerts will NOT override the IaR App DND
In your IaR App Settings, you will see those buttons.

Device Settings-Apple
→On your Apple device, go to the Settings App
→select NOTIFICATIONS
→Scroll down to the IaR App, and select it.
These are the suggested settings for iOS devices. It is your choice to use Critical Alerts or not*.
*You will only see the Critical Alerts button if you have selected Sound on silent/vibrate mode? in your IaR App Settings.
Test My Notifications
In the App on the Left-Side Menu there is an option for Test My Notifications.
- This tool allows you to test your various alerts types.
*Except, Apple devices can't test the Critical Alerts function. Critical Alerts is a function or Apple, not IaR. You can Test your alerts, with the Critical Alerts off, but not with Sound on silent/vibrate mode? switch activated.
- If your default app settings work for you, then the Critical Alerts function should work also.
